FTSE 100 Set for Strong Open as UK Growth Revised Higher
The FTSE 100 index is set to open higher on Wednesday after UK economic growth was revised upwards. The blue-chip index is expected to rise around 60.5 points, or 0.6%, to 10,697.21.
The revision in GDP growth comes shortly before the opening bell, with the economy expanding 0.5% in the second quarter compared to a previous estimate of 0.4%. The stronger economic data has boosted sterling, which strengthened to around $1.3237 from $1.3210 at Tuesday's London close.
A supportive backdrop for European equities comes from Japan and Australia, where markets are higher due to recent policy announcements from Beijing aimed at strengthening growth. However, US yields remain a dominant market risk as investors await key economic data releases later on Wednesday.
