The FTSE 100 index rose to 10,824.26 on Friday, marking its second consecutive weekly advance and extending its winning run to eight of the past ten weeks.

The index added 31.72 points on the day, snapping a two-session losing streak, as improving UK business activity and consumer confidence helped London's blue-chip index shrug off cautious signals from Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole address.

The services sector demonstrated particular strength, with the services PMI hitting a six-month high of 52.8 in August, driven by improved weather and technology investment.
