Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama confirmed her attendance at next week's G20 finance leaders meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, saying she wants to contribute to discussions on the global economy and international finance.

Katayama emphasized that the joint statement with US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on intervention remains valid, describing it as 'very strong' and 'still lives.'

The yen has slid back toward 160 per dollar after briefly strengthening to 155.20 following the coordinated currency intervention last month.

Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda is also expected to attend the G20 gathering, although the central bank has not formally disclosed his plans.
