GBP Gains on Upbeat UK Retail Sales Data
The British Pound (GBP) gained against the US Dollar (USD) on Friday after upbeat UK Retail Sales data. The GBP/USD pair rose to near 1.3372, with the British currency up 0.1%.
The Office for National Statistics reported a 0.5% Month-on-Month increase in Retail Sales in August, beating expectations of a 0.2% decline.
Despite this positive reaction, the GBP underperformed compared to other data releases and the Bank of England's (BoE) policy meeting.
