GBP/JPY Crashes Through Key Support Amid BoJ Uncertainty
The British Pound (GBP) continues to face downward pressure against the Japanese Yen (JPY), hitting fresh two-week lows at 207.70 earlier this week after being rejected at 209.00 in the Asian session.
This decline has resulted in a more than 1% drop over the last two trading days, with momentum indicators on intraday charts approaching oversold levels.
The Bank of Japan's (BoJ) minutes from July's meeting, released earlier this week, showed some policymakers advocating for faster interest rate hikes due to mounting inflation risks. However, these minutes had little impact on the GBP/JPY pair at the time of release.
The BoJ hiked interest rates in September, but two dovish dissenters have left investors questioning its ability to tighten policy further, sending the Yen lower across the board.
