GBP Struggles Against Strong USD Ahead of Key US Jobs Report
The British Pound is struggling to attract buyers as the US Dollar (USD) maintains its bullish tone ahead of the highly anticipated US Nonfarm Payrolls (NFP) report.
The USD has been boosted by oil-driven inflation fears, which have kept US bond yields near multi-year highs. This, combined with persistent geopolitical uncertainties stemming from the US-Iran standoff, is fueling demand for safe-haven assets like the USD.
The Pound Sterling (GBP) is being weighed down by UK fiscal concerns, including 30-year gilt yields topping 6% for the first time since early 1998. This has sparked worries about the country's economic health ahead of the Autumn Budget on October 28.
The GBP/USD pair has been trading below the 1.3200 mark and is poised to register modest losses for the third straight week. Traders are now looking to the US NFP report for fresh cues about the Federal Reserve's (Fed) future policy path, which will play a key role in influencing the near-term USD price dynamics.
