GBP Surges Against JPY on Fiscal Woes and Carry Trade

The British Pound (GBP) is advancing to a nearly two-week high against the Japanese Yen (JPY), climbing to around the 215.35-215.40 area during the European session on Wednesday.

This surge comes as investors remain worried about Japan's worsening fiscal conditions, driven by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's aggressive economic stimulus and tax cuts.

The Japanese Yen has surrendered a substantial portion of its recent strong recovery gains due to structural headwinds, including lower borrowing costs compared to other major economies like the UK.

This keeps the carry trade active, which continues to undermine the JPY and acts as a tailwind for the GBP/JPY cross.
