GBP/USD Bounce Ahead of NFP Report May Trigger Buying Opportunities
GBP/USD is experiencing downward pressure against the US dollar, but technical analyst Christopher Lewis sees potential for a bounce around key support levels. According to Lewis, the area between 1.32 and 1.3150 has offered support over the last six months, making it an interesting spot ahead of the Non-Farm Payrolls report on Friday.
The stochastic oscillator is in oversold conditions, but Lewis notes that there hasn't been a clean crossover yet. If the jobs report comes out weaker than anticipated, traders might hope for a rate cut from the Federal Reserve, which could lead to buying opportunities. On the other hand, if the report is strong, it may confirm a bearish trend.
Lewis will be watching to see if GBP/USD bounces at current levels or breaks down towards 1.30. He also notes that the Bank of England's dovish stance compared to the Fed and the recent PCE numbers missing their targets could impact market behavior.
