GBP/USD Unchanged Amid UK Inflation Rise and FOMC Rate Decision
The UK inflation rate rose to 3.1% year-on-year in August, its highest since March, driven by higher petrol and airfare prices.
However, this increase was in line with expectations and did not prompt a significant change in the pound's value against the US dollar.
The Bank of England (BoE) is expected to maintain interest rates at their current level when it meets later this week, despite warnings from Governor Andrew Bailey that new risks are emerging, including rising food prices and challenging domestic weather conditions.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on the Federal Reserve's rate decision, where a 25-basis-point hike is widely expected but may not have a significant impact on the US dollar due to its recent rally.
