Ghana Eyes Gold Reserves to Reduce Dollar Dependence
Ghana's Member of Parliament (MP) for Tano North, Gideon Boako, has emphasized the need for Ghana to strategically utilize its gold resources to reduce its overdependence on the US dollar and strengthen economic sovereignty.
Boako believes that Ghana's position as a major gold-producing country presents an opportunity to convert part of its natural-resource wealth into a strategic reserve asset.
The MP noted that accumulating domestically produced gold could provide an additional layer of protection against external shocks and periods of foreign exchange shortages.
