Ghanaian Cedi Continues Downward Trend Against Major Currencies

The Ghanaian Cedi continued its depreciation against major foreign currencies on October 2, 2026. According to the data from Cedirates.com, the average buying rate of the Cedi was GHS11.81, a two pesewa depreciation compared to the previous day's rate. The selling rate also depreciated to GHS12.15, maintaining the same level as Thursday.

At forex bureaus, the Cedi traded at GHS11.90 for dollar purchases and GHS12.25 for dollar sales. On the Bank of Ghana interbank market, the cedi was trading at GHS11.71 for buying and GHS11.72 for sale.

The British pound saw a slight appreciation against the Cedi, with an average forex bureau rate of GHS15.41 for buying and GHS16.33 for selling. The Bank of Ghana's interbank rate for the pound stood at GHS15.46.

The Euro also depreciated slightly against the Cedi, trading at GHS13.18 for buying and GHS14.01 for selling at forex bureaus. On the interbank market, the Euro was quoted at GHS13.16.
