Global central bankers meet in Istanbul to address economic challenges
Leading central bankers from around the world will gather in Istanbul this week for the Istanbul Economic Forum, where they will tackle pressing issues like inflation, monetary policy, and the global economic outlook. Among the key attendees are U.S. Federal Reserve Governor Christopher Waller, Bank of England Governor Andrew Bailey, Bank for International Settlements General Manager Pablo Hernandez de Cos, and Banque de France Governor Emmanuel Moulin. The two-day event, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, will also feature central bank governors from Greece, the Netherlands, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Azerbaijan, and Kazakhstan.
The forum, organized by the Central Bank of the Republic of Türkiye, will bring together 16 central bank governors, eight deputy governors, finance ministers from Türkiye and Egypt, and officials from international financial institutions. Participants will discuss a range of topics, including navigating a fragmented global economy, monetary policy challenges, debt dynamics, and the impact of artificial intelligence and digital innovation on macroeconomic policy.
Christopher Waller is set to deliver a speech at the conference, as noted on the Federal Reserve’s official schedule for Thursday. The discussions aim to address the complexities and uncertainties shaping the global economic landscape.
