US Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh announced that the world is experiencing a global investment surge, reversing past savings gluts. Speaking at the G20 finance leaders meeting in Asheville, North Carolina, Warsh said this moment can be characterized as one of a 'global investment surge.'

The notion of secular stagnation, which suggests growth will be much slower due to a lack of innovation, no longer applies in the current economy, according to Warsh. The shift from savings gluts to investment surges has created a bind for the Fed and US Treasury.

Warsh noted that during past G20 meetings, participants would have been discussing 'a global savings glut.' However, with the emergence of new investment opportunities, such as funding massive bond issues for artificial intelligence data centers and infrastructure, excess savings are being soaked up. This has contributed to rising US Treasury yields and higher US borrowing.
