Gold Edges Higher as Weaker Dollar Boosts Prices Ahead of Inflation Data
Gold prices edged higher on Thursday due to a weaker US dollar, ahead of key inflation data releases in the United States. Spot gold was up 0.3% at $4,414.28 per ounce as of 0419 GMT.
The market is awaiting the release of US producer price index data at 1230 GMT and consumer inflation figures scheduled for Friday.
Analysts said a weaker dollar made dollar-priced metals less expensive for holders of other currencies.
