Gold Futures Eye Profit-Taking Ahead of US Inflation Data
Kuala Lumpur-based gold futures on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives are expected to see some profit-taking early next week ahead of key US inflation data. According to Quintex Intel's global strategist Stephen Innes, gold prices will likely trade in the US$4,450 to US$4,500 range.
Innes noted that higher-than-expected inflation readings could revive expectations for a Federal Reserve rate hike and put pressure on gold. However, he also pointed out that gold has been resilient on pullbacks due to strong central bank buying and robust Asian retail demand.
The September 2026 contract fell to US$4,477.50 per troy ounce from US$4,619.30 last week, while the October 2026 contract declined to US$4,491.30 per troy ounce from US$4,635.50.
