Gold Surges to Three-Month High Amid Weaker Dollar
Gold prices have reached their highest level in over three months, surpassing $4,643.63 per ounce on Monday. This surge comes as the US dollar wavers near multi-month lows, making gold more affordable for holders of other currencies.
The increase in gold prices is largely attributed to a softer dollar, which has given gold a boost in recent days. According to Tim Waterer, chief market analyst at KCM Trade, gold is looking 'sprightly' and has stepped back into bid mode.
Traders are closely watching key economic indicators, including the July Personal Consumption Expenditures price index data and Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh's speech at the Jackson Hole symposium this week. Any shift in tone on the policy path could impact gold prices, with a balanced or cautious tone potentially keeping the door open for further gains.
Other metals also saw gains, with spot silver adding 0.1% at $69.03 per ounce and platinum rising 0.5% to $1,887.28.
