Greece is seeking support from its eurozone partners and the European Central Bank after defaulting on its debt to the International Monetary Fund. The country's finance minister, Yanis Varoufakis, has hinted that Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras might be willing to scrap a referendum on bailout terms if Athens is granted a loan.

Varoufakis told colleagues that the ruling Syriza party may urge Greeks to vote 'yes' in Sunday's plebiscite if a loan is approved. The move comes as Greece struggles to stay afloat after losing frozen international bailout money.
