Green Party Slams Government Over Economic Resilience
The Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand has criticized the current government's economic policies, saying they have failed to deliver a resilient economy that works for all citizens.
Green Party Co-leader and Finance spokesperson Chlöe Swarbrick stated, 'Luxon's fiscal hole is in New Zealanders' wallets, the empty shops in our towns and the gap in action required to meet the climate crisis.'
The criticism comes after the Pre-election Economic and Fiscal Update (PREFU) revealed a significant uncertainty in economic figures. Swarbrick noted that Treasury warned every single figure in today's PREFU comes with significant uncertainty.
The Green Party has proposed an alternative plan to invest in what is broken, support job creation, and reduce exposure to imported fossil fuel inflation. Swarbrick emphasized that their plan would make New Zealanders happier, healthier, and safer by reducing the cost of living and improving quality of life.
