Highland Spring Group Achieves Record Revenue Amid UK Market Challenges
Highland Spring Group, the leading bottled water company based in Perthshire, has reported a record revenue of £163.4 million for 2025. This marks a 10.2 percent increase from the previous year, despite challenges posed by UK inflation and a tough fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market. The company's operating profit also rose by £1.9 million to £16.1 million, reinforcing its position as the largest water brand in the UK by volume and value.
The strong financial performance was supported by a £10 million investment in the Blackford site, which boosted annual production capacity by 25 percent. This expansion allowed Highland Spring to meet rising consumer demand while maintaining supply chain reliability. The Blackford facility, which draws water from a protected aquifer, is central to the brand's identity and operational strength.
The UK bottled water market grew by 13.5 percent to £2.1 billion in total retail sales last year, driven by a shift toward healthier, zero-calorie hydration options. Highland Spring's ability to maintain premium pricing and brand equity helped it outperform broader category growth, even as consumer confidence dipped due to food inflation and economic uncertainty.
Environmental sustainability remains a key focus for Highland Spring, with investments in closed-loop recycling initiatives and the use of 100 percent recycled polyethylene terephthalate (rPET) packaging. The company's efforts to protect the Blackford catchment area and promote sustainable practices further differentiate it from competitors in a market under scrutiny for single-use plastics.
