Hungary Holds Base Rate Steady as Euro Gains Against Forint
The National Bank of Hungary (MNB) has kept its base interest rate steady at 5.5%, maintaining a stable policy environment for the Hungarian forint.
This decision comes as the euro is trading near Ft363.84 against the Hungarian forint, marking a modest gain of 0.5% for the session.
The MNB also announced that it will lower its medium-term inflation target from 3% to 2.5%, effective January 2028, with a 1 percentage point tolerance band.
This forward guidance on inflation reflects a commitment to future price stability and could influence longer-term currency dynamics.
