Hunter Biden Calls US Dollar Fake and Embraces Bitcoin
Hunter Biden has publicly criticized the U.S. dollar, calling it “fake” under the current fiat monetary system. In a recent interview, he argued that inflation acts as a built-in tax due to the government’s ability to print money at will. Investor Anthony Pompliano shared a clip from the interview on X, quoting Biden as saying, “Fiat is a sham” and “Any government that can print money at will…doesn’t actually equal money.”
Biden’s comments align with his growing pro-Bitcoin stance. He has previously described fiat money as a “sham” and decentralized digital currency as the “inevitable future.” He even accepts Bitcoin for his artwork and recently predicted Bitcoin could reach $220,000 by 2028. His LAPTOP memecoin, launched in September, further ties his public identity to cryptocurrency.
During the interview, Biden also criticized both the Biden and Trump administrations, discussed artificial intelligence, and shared insights on addiction recovery. However, his characterization of inflation as solely a result of money printing oversimplifies a complex issue. The Federal Reserve notes that inflation is influenced by multiple factors, including supply shocks and energy disruptions.
In an earlier interview, Biden acknowledged that central banks may have prevented depressions and major recessions but argued that post-2008 money creation contributed to persistent inflation. Despite this, he remains a vocal advocate for Bitcoin and cryptocurrency as alternatives to traditional financial systems.
