HydroCycle Taps CDE Technology for New Zealand's Circular Economy Push
HydroCycle, a New Zealand-based environmental services company, has launched a new liquid waste recycling venture using technology from CDE. The firm's goal is to support the growing demand for recycled materials in the construction industry.
The circular economy initiative aims to reduce landfill costs and increase sustainability goals by repurposing material for use in construction projects across Auckland. With infrastructure investment on the rise, the need for more sand and aggregates has increased, and HydroCycle is well-positioned to meet this demand.
According to the National Construction Pipeline Report 2025, infrastructure activity is set to increase across Auckland by 21.8% in 2029. This growth presents an opportunity for materials suppliers like HydroCycle to enter the market and support the industry's needs while promoting sustainability.
HydroCycle has acquired a new site with CDE's G:MAX all-in-one wet processing system, which is designed to minimize maintenance requirements and maximize solids recovery and dewatering efficiency. The technology has been successful in processing hydro excavation feed into 6mm+ aggregate and 0-6mm sand for use in local construction projects.
Seb Bainbridge, Director at HydroCycle, states that CDE's technology is 'proving to be robust and reliable.' He notes that the investment has been valuable, allowing HydroCycle to provide more sustainable material to the market, which is helping to close the loop in materials recovery and supporting the local economy.
