IAG New Zealand Profit Drops as Commercial Market Falters

IAG New Zealand reported an insurance profit of AU$467 million for FY26, down from AU$606 million in FY25. The decline was attributed to a softer commercial market and a weaker New Zealand dollar.

The company's intermediated arm, NZI, saw a significant drop in premiums, falling 11% in local currency terms. This led to a reported insurance profit of NZ$170 million for the intermediated segment, down from NZ$246 million a year earlier.

IAG New Zealand CEO Phil Gibson stated that despite the softer top line, the company had made progress on broker-facing digital infrastructure. The introduction of the new digital platform, NZI Blue, and premium product, NZI Distinction, were highlighted as key developments.
