ICE Midday: Canola Futures Dip Amid Lackluster Trade
ICE Midday Update: Canola futures on the Intercontinental Exchange slipped into negative territory on Wednesday, following a lackluster trade. According to an analyst, this dip could be attributed to the slow pace of activity in the market.
Manitoba's weekly crop report revealed that only two percent of the province's canola crop had been harvested as of August 24. This may indicate a potential delay in the harvest season, which could impact prices in the coming weeks.
Crude oil prices were relatively stable, despite reports of a joint proposal by Iran and Oman to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and the return of United States diplomats to their embassies in the Middle East. However, planned maintenance in the Canadian oil sands next month will take 300,000 barrels per day offline.
The Canadian dollar was down three-tenths of a U.S. cent compared to Tuesday's close, which may have contributed to the decline in canola futures.
