Indian Markets Slide Amid Crude Price Surge and US-Iran Tensions
The Indian stock market, represented by the benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty, ended marginally lower on Tuesday due to rising crude oil prices, fresh US-Iran tensions, and concerns over a hawkish US Federal Reserve policy.
Elevated crude oil prices, which rose 2.03% to $92.33 per barrel, weighed heavily on investor sentiment, as did the escalating geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Concerns over the US Federal Reserve's tighter monetary policy also impacted risk appetite across emerging markets, with experts warning of a prolonged period of elevated interest rates.
Despite these headwinds, India's economy recorded a strong 7.8% GDP growth in the April-June quarter, showing resilience in the face of global uncertainty.
