India's Economic Momentum Makes It a Global Investment Hotspot
Global experts at the Kautilya Economic Conclave 2026 in New Delhi discussed India's growing attractiveness as an investment destination. The three-day conclave brought together economists, policymakers, and experts from across the world to address challenges facing the global economy.
Sweden's Erik Berglof noted that India has achieved impressive economic momentum since the Covid-19 pandemic. He emphasized the country's strong growth prospects and expanding infrastructure as significant draws for investors.
Berglof also highlighted the importance of maintaining economic momentum while managing fiscal risks, which he said will remain a key challenge for policymakers. Climate change was another major theme at the conclave, with Juliano Assuncao from Brazil's Climate Policy Initiative emphasizing the need for international cooperation to address this shared risk.
New Zealand economist John Gibson praised the Kautilya Economic Conclave as an important platform for dialogue between researchers and policymakers. Japan's Kazuto Suzuki from the Institute of Geoeconomics also attended, highlighting the growing overlap between economics, geopolitics, and geoeconomics in shaping investment and business decisions.
