India's IT Software Exports Surpass $239 Billion Mark
India's IT software exports have reached a new milestone, crossing $239.3 billion in 2025-26, marking a 9.5% increase from the previous financial year. This significant growth is attributed to the expansion of services delivered by foreign affiliates of Indian companies and the increasing demand for computer services, which continued to account for more than two-thirds of India's total software exports.
According to data released by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), private limited companies dominated software exports with a 9.3% growth in 2025-26. The US remained the major destination for Indian software exports, accounting for 54.1% of the share, followed closely by European countries, where the UK had a significant share of 15.4%. The RBI's survey also found that the US dollar was the principal invoicing currency for India's software exports, accounting for 72.6% of total transactions.
The RBI conducted its survey for 2025-26, contacting 7,569 software export companies and receiving responses from 2,363 companies, which together accounted for around 89% of the total estimated software services exports.
