Inflation Data Boosts Aussie Equities Amid Global Market Volatility

Australian equities rose 2.3% in July after softer-than-expected inflation data reduced expectations of another near-term Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) rate rise.

The June quarter's trimmed mean consumer price index (CPI) rose 0.8%, below the RBA's forecast of 1.0%, while the annual rate eased to 3.5%.

Global markets were mixed, marked by sharp swings around the US Federal Reserve's policy meeting and ongoing US-Iran uncertainty.
