NZX 50 Index Rises 0.55% on Strong Tech Shares and Lower Oil Prices
The New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) started the week on a positive note, with the NZX 50 index rising by 75.65 points (+0.55%) to close at 13,774.93.
This gain was largely driven by strong performances in global tech shares and the decline in international oil prices, which eased inflation expectations and decreased worries about further interest rate hikes.
The technology sector led advances, with Fisher & Paykel Healthcare gaining 1.13% and Port of Tauranga climbing 2.72%. The real estate sector also performed well, while the healthcare and infrastructure sectors remained resilient despite cautious macroeconomic sentiment.
