Inflation Figures Set to Determine Fed Rate Hike Fate

The upcoming inflation figures for August are expected to play a crucial role in determining whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates. If inflation comes in below economists' expectations, a rate hike may be delayed. The Producer Price Index (PPI) and Consumer Price Index (CPI) will be announced on September 10th and 11th, respectively.

Economists are anticipating a 0.4% rise in both the PPI and CPI for August. Meanwhile, the core PPI, excluding food and energy, is expected to increase by 0.3%, while the core CPI is forecasted to rise by 0.2%. The outcome of these figures will significantly impact the market's expectations regarding a potential rate hike.

September is typically a seasonally weak month for investors due to tax payments on September 15th, but the second half of the month tends to be stronger. Fundamentally superior stocks often benefit from quarter-end window dressing in late September, making it an attractive time for investment.
