Inflation Hikes to 3.1% as UK Braces for Rate Hike
UK inflation rose to 3.1 percent year-on-year in August, up from 2.9 percent the previous month.
The increase was largely expected due to ongoing events in the Middle East's impact on the UK's economic data 'significantly now', according to Richard Carter, head of fixed interest research at Quilter Cheviot.
Carter attributed the jump in inflation to increased fuel and energy prices, as well as growing housing costs.
