Tehran's streets are filled with people struggling to make ends meet. The city has been ravaged by decades of economic turmoil, corruption, and external intervention. The situation worsened in February when the US and Israel launched a war on Iran, followed by months of bombing, intensified sanctions, and naval blockades.

Bardia, a 23-year-old living with his parents in eastern Tehran, said that becoming independent or forming a family is now a 'distant dream' for many young Iranians. The country's inflation rate stands at 89% year-on-year, while food inflation has reached over 127%. The national currency has hit a new all-time low of over 1.37 million rials per US dollar.

'Becoming independent or forming a family, emigrating away, buying a home, a shop, a car or even a new phone is becoming more of a distant dream every day,' Bardia said.
