Japan Bond Auction Sparks Concerns for Bitcoin Amid Higher Yields
A Japan government bond auction on Tuesday saw an average yield of 3.856%, exceeding expectations and sparking concerns for Bitcoin's performance.
The 20-year bond auction, which took place on September 12, saw a significant repricing in the long end of the curve, with yields rising above those seen in August.
Bid coverage improved slightly to about 4.01 times compared to the previous offering, while the gap between the highest accepted yield and the average fell to 1.3 basis points from 1.5.
The auction's result drew attention because it exceeded the range indicated by the Bank of Japan bond market survey in August, which pointed to a median of 3.70% for the end of September and an upper quartile of 3.75% for the 20-year yield.
