Japan Interest Rate Hike Could Hit Aussie Travelers
Australian travelers heading to Japan for their next holiday may soon face higher costs due to a potential interest rate hike by the Bank of Japan (BOJ).
The BOJ is considering increasing interest rates by 0.25% to 1.25%, its highest level in 31 years, to combat rising inflation.
This move could negatively impact the favorable exchange rate between the Japanese Yen and Australian Dollar, which has made Japan an attractive destination for Australians.
According to data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS), almost one million Australians traveled to Japan last financial year, making it the third most popular tourist destination after Indonesia and New Zealand.
