Japan Labels Yen Undervalued as USD/JPY Trades Near 157.00
The Japanese Yen has been relatively stable recently, trading just above 157.00 against the US Dollar, despite Finance Minister Katayama calling it undervalued.
Last month's round of Yen buying by Japan saw a record ¥15.4 trillion spent on purchasing the currency, with the goal of increasing its value.
Katayama stated that an undervalued Yen is generally a problem and that she agreed with US Treasury Secretary Bessent to strengthen cooperation between their countries to maintain orderly currency markets.
