Japan Retains Key Ministers in Cabinet Reshuffle Amid Economic Expansion Push
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi has reshuffled her cabinet, retaining key ministers to drive fiscal expansion and strengthen the country's response capabilities. The move aims to accelerate her economic agenda, which includes fostering growth and resilience in the face of global challenges.
The reshuffle saw the appointment of Hiroshi Nakatsuka as Minister of Administrative and Regulatory Reform, marking the first time a member from the Japan Innovation Party has joined the executive branch since Takaichi took office. The change also included the replacement of Hiroshi Hiraguchi by Takashi Yamashita at the Ministry of Justice.
Despite the changes, Satsuki Katayama will remain as Finance Minister, a crucial role in coordinating joint currency interventions aimed at reversing the yen's weakness. Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi and Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi also retained their positions.
