Japan-US Conduct Rare Coordinated Yen-Buying Intervention
Japan and the US have conducted a rare coordinated intervention to curb yen volatility, buying the currency in line with their joint statement from September 2025.
The Ministry of Finance confirmed that on July 31, Japan's MOF carried out the intervention in coordination with the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
Tokyo has signaled further action if necessary and plans to use the Federal Reserve's FIMA Repo Facility, as stated by the Ministry of Finance.
