Japan's Finance Minister Stresses BoJ Independence Amid Global Bond Yield Surge
Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama reaffirmed the independence of the Bank of Japan (BoJ) during a European trading session on Friday. This is the second time in one day that Katayama has made remarks about the economy and currency.
Katayama stated that Takaichi very much respects the independence of the BoJ, emphasizing the importance of the central bank's autonomy in making monetary policy decisions.
Regarding market trends, Katayama noted that rising bond yields are a global phenomenon and temporary. He also vowed that Japan would not hesitate to take bold action on the yen if necessary.
