Micronics Japan, a semiconductor test equipment specialist, is one such company with substantial skin in the game. Its ¥536.2b market cap reflects its sizeable position in this niche, and its main profit engine is probe cards and other test gear used by chipmakers to ramp up production.
Another example is JX Advanced Metals, which develops copper and rare metal materials for electronics, recycling, and industrial uses. Its Semiconductor Materials arm is directly plugged into chip fabrication through sputtering targets and high purity metals.
Rakuten Group, an e-commerce and FinTech company, also fits this theme with its push into cashless payments through Rakuten Pay and Rakuten Card. However, the profitability of its FinTech arm will be crucial in determining the success of this initiative.
