July Inflation Slows to 3.4% as Energy Prices Drop

US inflation eased in July as energy prices fell, causing annual price growth to slow to 3.4 percent.

The consumer price index rose 0.1 percent on a seasonally adjusted basis in July, after declining 0.4 percent in June, according to data released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.

On an annual basis, the all-items index increased 3.4 percent in July, down from 3.5 percent in June.
