Katayama Expects BoJ to Steer Policy Properly to Achieve 2% Inflation Target
Japan's Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama stated that officials will review budget requests and control debt issuance at a level that can gain market credibility. This comes as Japan aims to address excessive volatility in its financial markets.
Katayama also expressed confidence in the Bank of Japan (BoJ) to steer policy properly, achieving stable and sustainable 2% inflation. The BoJ's mandate is to ensure price stability through a target of around 2% inflation.
