The Kenyan shilling has shown remarkable stability in 2025, gaining four percent against the US dollar according to an analysis by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

This marks a sharp turnaround from early 2024 when the currency hit record lows of over Sh160 against the dollar. However, with improved foreign exchange inflows, increased diaspora remittances, and a rebound in exports, the shilling began to strengthen.

The local currency has largely remained within the Sh129 range for months, reinforcing confidence among investors and businesses that rely heavily on imported goods and raw materials.
