Kiuchi: Japan No Longer Needs Excessive Monetary Easing
Japan's Economy Minister Minoru Kiuchi says the country no longer needs excessively loose monetary policy to combat deflation. Speaking at a news conference, Kiuchi emphasized that Japan has emerged from an era of reflationist policies introduced under Abenomics.
Kiuchi stated that Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's policies differ significantly from those implemented during the Abenomics era. He declined to comment on whether the government opposes further interest rate hikes by the Bank of Japan, which is responsible for monetary policy decisions.
