KOF Survey: Swiss Forecasters Boost Growth Outlook, Tame Inflation
Swiss forecasters have become more optimistic about the country's economic growth in 2026, according to the KOF Swiss Economic Institute's latest quarterly survey. The forecast now expects Switzerland's economy to grow by 1.7% next year, up from a previous estimate of 0.9%. This upgrade in growth expectations is accompanied by a slight reduction in inflation forecasts, with economists now predicting 0.6% annual price growth in 2026, down from 0.7% previously.
The survey's findings are significant for financial markets, as they can influence interest rates and the value of the Swiss franc. A lower inflation forecast can lead to a decrease in short-term government bond yields, making it less likely that the Swiss National Bank will raise its policy rate in the near future.
