KOSPI Holds Firm as Tech Giants Rebound, Nikkei Drops on SoftBank and Kioxia
The KOSPI Index in South Korea held above 6,600 points as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix rebounded from previous losses. The index edged up 0.14% to trade at 6,636.42 points on September 16.
Samsung Electronics rose 0.2% to 249,000 won, while SK Hynix opened up 0.89% to reclaim the 1.7 million mark, trading at 1,705,000 won. This modest gain in tech chip stocks supported the KOSPI Index.
In contrast, the Nikkei 225 Index in Japan dropped 0.2% to 63,268.72 points as SoftBank and Kioxia fell significantly. SoftBank shares plummeted 3.5% back toward the 6,000 mark, trading at 6,059 yen, while Kioxia fell 3.03% to approach the 50,000 mark, trading at 50,180 yen.
