Kyrgyz Som Surges Against Most Currencies as Tenge Hits New Record

The Kyrgyz som has seen a rise in value against most currencies, except for the US dollar. The Kazakh tenge has reached a new record high in 2026, appreciating by 5.26 percent against the som since the beginning of September.

The National Bank of Kyrgyzstan and exchange points in Bishkek reported an official exchange rate of 87.4482 soms for the US dollar, with no significant changes recorded.

On the other hand, the euro has seen a slight increase, reaching 99.621 soms, while the Russian ruble has stopped its decline after a week of decrease, standing at 1.0318 soms.

The Kazakh tenge continues to strengthen, reaching a new annual and monthly record with an official exchange rate of 0.198 soms, a 0.05 percent increase.
