New Zealanders are increasingly worried about various aspects of the economy and healthcare system, according to an Ipsos Monitor survey. The poll found that more voters believe Labour would manage the economy, health care, cost of living, housing costs, and unemployment better than National.

This is only the second time in the survey's history since 2018 that Labour has beaten National on the economy. The survey also revealed a significant drop in confidence in the Government, with more people believing it is going in the wrong direction.

Meanwhile, Christchurch Hospital's Emergency Department is facing a crisis due to overcrowding and understaffing. An ED doctor warned that the hospital might pitch a tent outside as corridors fill up with patients.

New Zealand First has proposed selling the retail arms of state-owned gentailers Meridian, Mercury, and Genesis to fund extra generation by their wholesale arms.
