Lagarde Blocks Binance's EU License Bid Through Greece
Binance's bid for an EU license through Greece was reportedly blocked after European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde intervened, according to a Wall Street Journal report cited by Coin Bureau.
The exchange had been pursuing authorization in Greece as part of the bloc's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. Greek officials had told Binance that its application was complete before the process stalled.
Binance had prepared a 'Major Milestone' announcement tied to the expected regulatory approval, but ultimately withdrew its MiCA application in Greece and said it would pursue authorization in another EU member state.
