European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde has inserted herself into France's presidential election debate by attending an event in Normandy, fueling speculation that she might leave the ECB before her term ends.

Lagarde spoke at the Fête de la Pomme, a gathering of French political figures and presidential hopefuls hosted by regional president Hervé Morin. The event has become a significant platform for discussing key issues in France's election campaign.

Just days ago, the ECB raised interest rates to combat inflation pressures linked to the Iran war. Lagarde previously described the French presidency as 'a terrible job' but expressed her desire for a European voice in the election campaign.

The World Economic Forum has also been mentioned as a possible destination after she leaves the ECB.
