Laurentian Bank Secures Regulatory Approvals for Transactions with Fairstone and NBC
Laurentian Bank has received key regulatory approvals for its transactions involving Fairstone Bank and National Bank of Canada. The Canadian Investment Regulatory Organization approved the Retail/SME Transaction and Acquisition Transaction, concluding the key regulatory approval process.
The parties expect the Transactions to close on November 1, 2026, subject to the satisfaction or waiver of remaining closing conditions and completion of integration activities. Laurentian Bank's retail and SME products and services will be migrated to National Bank of Canada by late 2026.
Laurentian Bank's decision to focus on commercial specialization represents an opportunity to build on its strengths as a long-established Québec institution. Fairstone Bank will combine its commercial lending operations with Laurentian Bank's expertise, leveraging both organizations' capabilities and expanding market presence.
